What is a Sports Massage?

A Sports Massage is a treatment that is used to facilitate muscle recovery, take away the pain and reduce stress. The intensive use of your muscles has a profound effect on your body. After exertion, your muscles need time care to recover fully. Sports Massage improves your blood flow and metabolism. Before, during or after exercise? A sports massage is always a good idea!

Before: During the massage, the body is getting prepared to perform optimally. The treatment focuses on improving blood flow and prepares the muscles for the upcoming performance. Think of a marathon, cycling race or a football match.

During the massage: The focus here is on muscle relaxation. It can be helpful during exercise to allow certain muscle groups to rest and recover. This allows performance to be resumed after the sports massage.

After: Have you made a major effort recently? Then the treatment helps, among other things, to promote muscle recovery and to prevent any muscle pain. In short, the recovery time is shortened, so that the body can prepare better for future efforts.

Review of the treatment

Last week I was able to enjoy a great Sports Massage at Zuiver. After a day of hard work and standing on my two feet for extended periods, my back and shoulders were hurting quite a bit. I wanted something a bit more than a Relaxation Massage. The masseuse used a nice amount of oil, had strong hands and put a nice amount of pressure on the painful spots. It made me relax completely and took away the pain in my neck and shoulders. It was exactly the treatment my body needed! - Barbara
